Growth Test Event Timing and Selection for Reports

The previous figure illustrates valid test events that fall both inside and outside the school test windows. Valid test events—those not invalidated during the test-taking session—are handled in MAP reports as follows:

• The growth test event for a student is the test event that is listed on MAP reports to show student performance for a given term in a given subject. If a student has multiple valid test events inside the test window for his or her school of record, all these events are eligible to be the growth test event. Of these, the test event with the lowest standard error of measure is used as the growth test event.
• Other valid test events may be shown in reports, depending on your selections when ordering reports. They are listed for informational purposes on certain reports (the Student Progress Report, Class Report, Comprehensive Data File, and Combined Data File). These test scores are specially marked in gray font in a text report or with a + sign in a graphical report. Other valid test events include:
  • Test events within the school test window that were not selected as the growth test event.
  • Test events outside the school test window.

Note: Test events from certain tests, namely MPG Screening and Skills Checklist tests, are not compared with norms data in MPG reports. These tests can be administered at any time and the results can be manually compared with earlier results to determine student growth.
