About Managing Data Quality

You can generate more meaningful MAP®Measures of Academic Progress® reports if you make sure that:

• Naming conventions are matched between the district student information system and the MAP system
• Student profiles are accurate and complete
• No duplicates exist

The import process identifies errors in file structure and profile data consistency, however, it is not necessary to correct data errors to complete the import process. Unreconciled data errors may cause discrepancies during a testing session or when reviewing MAP reports.

You can order operational reports that help identify the source of data quality problems in the MAP system. Examples of errors that you may find include:

• Duplicate student profiles
• Student test results not appearing on reports
• Tested students not appearing on reports

You can help avoid report errors by following these recommendations:

• Limit the number of users who can change data
• Take your time setting up and entering data
• Import roster files frequently

Required Roles

You must be assigned the following MAP system role to correct import data file errors, merge and unmerge student profiles, view details of test events, and reassign or exclude test events:

• Data administrator

You must be assigned one of the following MAP system roles to create and modify student profiles:

• Data administrator
• Proctor

You must be assigned one of the following MAP system roles to view operational reports:

• Assessment coordinator
• Data administrator
