About Setting Up the MAP System Initially

Before you begin importing student and user data into the MAP®Collapsed system, be sure to configure the system with any custom names that should appear on MAP reports. Custom names override the default names for your district, schools, grades, programs, and ethnic groups. These custom names appear on MAP reports and throughout the MAP user interface.

Important! All imported data must match the custom names you specify. To avoid rework, make any changes to custom names before importing data for the term.

In addition, the MAP system includes a convenient way for users to contact MAP system managers within your district. Enter those names on the Help Contact page early in the setup process. For instructions, see Specifying Contact People Within Your District.

Tip: At the beginning of each term, look through the MAP Modify Preferences page to verify that your information is up to date.
