Steps

To reconcile import errors:

  1. Access the Reconcile Errors page.
    1. In the left navigation pane, select Import Profiles.
    2. From the Import Profile page, click Go to Import Summary.
    3. From the Import Summary page, click Reconcile Errors.
  2. For record keeping purposes, click Export Errors and then click Save.

This feature saves the list of errors to a file in .csv format on your local computer. You can then refer to this list to help correct the roster data and your data source.

Note: You can export errors at any time, but the list does not include errors after you have reconciled them.

  3. To reconcile group naming errors, such as Ethnic Group, click the error category link and follow these guidelines:
  4. To reconcile individual errors, such as Student Errors, click the error category link and follow one of the options provided.

Your goal is to avoid duplicate records in the database. The options vary, but the basic choice is either to overwrite the existing, matching record or to create a new record. (For detailed explanations, see either Reconcile Errors - Student Error or Reconcile Errors - Instructor or Additional Users Error.)

Note: The last option—Do not import—means you must either include the record in a separate import (after correcting the data) or create the user profile through Manage Users. In this case, take note of the name so you don't lose track of the record.

  5. After reconciling a given error category, click Save and Next.
  6. Optionally, click Previous to return to the previous error, or click Return to Error Summary to return to the Reconcile Errors page.
  7. When you have evaluated all errors, click Return to Import Summary from the Reconcile Errors page.

    The Import Summary page appears.

  8. Check the Errors Remaining column.

Ultimately, you must reach zero errors. However, for individual errors, you might have some remaining if you choose the option: Do not reconcile at this time.

  9. To complete the import of the reconciled records, click Post Valid Records and then click OK.
