Manage Students

You must be assigned at least one of the following MAP system roles to manage students:

• Data Administrator
• Proctor

Fields include:

Search only for master profiles: If selected, the search finds only student profiles designated as master profiles (the product of merged duplicate student profiles).

Student ID: Student’s unique identification number.

Last Name/First Name: This can be the first one or more characters of the name followed by an asterisk (*) wildcard character to find all names that start with the first characters. The name can be up to 65 characters long.

Date Range: Range of days within which the student profile was created. The range can be a single day. 

From: First day of the range. If left blank, the search starts from when your district first began using the Web-based MAP system.

To: Last day of the range. If left blank, the search ends with today.

Term: Drop-down list of active instructional terms. In order to perform a bulk update, you must always search by term. After you select a term, you can further refine your search results using the Date Range and using the following criteria that appear:

• Programs: Drop-down list of available programs.
• Ethnic Groups: Drop-down list of available ethnic groups.
• Grade: Drop-down list of available grades. If your district has not configured custom names for the grades, your options include:
  • PK: Pre-kindergarten
  • K: Kindergarten
  • KA: Kindergarten, a.m. (morning)
  • KP: Kindergarten, p.m. (afternoon)
  • 1-12: First through twelfth grades
  • OT: Other (any grades that do not fit into one of the above)
• Schools: Search a particular school or search all schools.
• Instructors: Search all teachers or filter for a specific teacher. Names of teachers appear as you type. For example, if you type "Gomez, M," existing teacher Miguel Gomez appears. You must choose a teacher name before you can search classes.
• Classes: Drop-down list of classes assigned to the chosen teacher.

The following buttons become active when you select a student profile returned by the search.

View/Update: View or make changes to the student profile. The Student Profile page shows the current student information, including terms assigned to the student.

Delete: Remove the student profile from the system.

Merge: Combine two or more profiles that exist for the same student. For more information, see Merge Student Profiles.

Unmerge: Unmerge profiles that were previously merged. For more information, see Unmerge Student Profiles.

Bulk Update: Make the same modification to up to 200 student profiles at a time.

View/Update Test Events: View performance details, set reporting preference, or reassign.

Search results include all student profiles that match your search criteria.

Fields include:

Last Name: Student's last name.

First Name: Student's first name.

Middle Name: Student’s middle name or initial, if available. If information is not available for a student, this field is blank (-).

Student ID: Student's ID supplied during create or import. If information is not available for a student, this field is blank (-).

Date of Birth: Student's birth date, if provided. If information is not available for a student, this field is blank (-).

Gender: Student's gender, if provided. If information is not available for a student, this field is blank (-).

Profile Created On: Date the student profile was created.

Master?: Master profile is indicated by a checkmark; otherwise, this field is blank (-). Profiles listed as master profiles result from two or more duplicate profiles that were merged.
